ଆଜି ନବରାତ୍ରିର ୬ଷ୍ଠ ଦିନ। ଆଜିର ଦିନଟି ମା’ କାତ୍ଯାୟନୀଙ୍କୁ ସମର୍ପିତ। ଯର୍ଜୁବେଦରେ ପ୍ରଥମ ଥର କାତ୍ଯାୟନୀଙ୍କ ନାମ ଉଲ୍ଲେଖ ରହିଛି। ନବରାତ୍ରିର ପ୍ରତ୍ଯେକ ଦିନରେ ମା’ ଅଲଗା ଅଲଗା ସ୍ବରୂପ ଧାରଣ କରନ୍ତି ଓ ବିଧିପୂର୍ବକ ପୂଜା କରାଯାଏ। କୁହାଯାଏ, ଦେବତାଙ୍କ କାର୍ଯ୍ଯ ସିଦ୍ଧ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଆଦିଶକ୍ତି ଦେବୀଙ୍କ ରୂପେ ମହର୍ଷି କାତ୍ଯାୟନୀଙ୍କ ଆଶ୍ରମରେ ପ୍ରକଟ ହୋଇଥିଲେ। ମହର୍ଷି ଦେବୀଙ୍କୁ ନିଜ ଝିଅ ବୋଲି ମାନୁଥିଲେ, ତେବେ ତାଙ୍କ ନାମ କାତ୍ଯାୟନୀ ରହିଥିଲା।ମା’ କାତ୍ଯାୟନୀଙ୍କୁ ପୂଜା କରିବା ଦ୍ବାରା ବ୍ଯକ୍ତି ନିଜର ସମସ୍ତ ଇନ୍ଦ୍ରିୟକୁ ନିଜ ବଶରେ ରଖିବା ପାଇଁ ଶକ୍ତି ପାଉଥିଲା। କାତ୍ଯାୟନୀ ମା’ଙ୍କୁ ଦାନବ, ଅସୁର ଏବଂ ପାପୀଙ୍କ ନାଶ କରିବାର ଦେବୀ ବୋଲି କୁହାଯାଏ। ମା’ କାତ୍ଯାୟନୀଙ୍କ ଚାରି ବାହୁ ଏବଂ ସିଂହ ଉପରେ ବସିଥାନ୍ତି। ପୌରାଣିକ କଥା ଅନୁସାରେ, ମା’ କାତ୍ଯାୟନୀ ମହିଷାସୁରକୁ ବଧ କରିଥିଲେ। ମହିଷାସୁର ଏକ ଅସୁର ଥିଲା, ଯିଏକି ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ବହୁତ ହଇରାଣ କରୁଥିଲା। ମା’ କାତ୍ଯାୟନୀ ରୂପ ଧାରଣ କରି ମହିଷାସୁରର ବଧ କରିଥିଲେ। ମହିଷାସୁରକୁ ବଧ କରିବା ଭଳି ମା’ ମଣିଷ ବିବାହରେ ଆସୁଥିବା ବାଧାକୁ ଦୂର କରିଥାଏ। ନବରାତ୍ରୀରେ ବିଧି ପୂର୍ବକ ପୂଜା କରିବା ଦ୍ବାରା ବିବାହ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧୀୟ ସମସ୍ତ ଅସୁବିଧା ଦୂର ହୋଇଥାଏ। ଭଗବାନ ଶ୍ରୀ କୃଷ୍ଣଙ୍କ ଭଳି ସ୍ବାମୀ ପାଇବା ପାଇବା ପାଇଁ ଗୋପୀମାନେ ମାତା କାତ୍ଯାୟନୀଙ୍କ ପୂଜା କରିଥାନ୍ତି। ମାଙ୍କୁ ପୂଜା କରିବା ଦ୍ବାରା ଦେବଗୁରୁ ବୃହସ୍ପତି ପ୍ରସନ୍ନ ହୋଇଥାନ୍ତି ଏବଂ କନ୍ଯାଙ୍କୁ ଭଲ ସ୍ବାମୀ ମିଳିଥାଏ।
ମା’ଙ୍କ ମନ୍ତ୍ର:
ଓଁ ଦେବୀ କାତ୍ଯାୟନୈ ନମଃ।
ୟା ଦେବୀ ସର୍ବଭୁତେଷୁ ମାଁ କାତ୍ଯାୟନୀ ରୂପେଣ ସଂସ୍ଥିତା।

ପୂଜା କରିବାର ବିଧି:
ମା’ଙ୍କ ପୂଜା କରିବା ସମୟରେ ନିୟମ ପ୍ରତି ବିଶେଷ ଧ୍ୟାନ ଦେବାକୁ ପଡିଥାଏ। ମାଙ୍କ ପୂଜା କରି ପୂର୍ବରୁ ଏକ କାଠ ଉପରେ ଲାଲ କପଡା ପକାଇ ମା’ଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ଥାପିତ କରନ୍ତୁ। ମା’ଙ୍କ ପୂଜା ସମୟରେ ସଫା ଡ୍ରେସ ପିନ୍ଧନ୍ତୁ। ମା’ଙ୍କୁ ରୋଲି ଏବଂ ସିନ୍ଦୁର ତିଳକ ଲଗାନ୍ତୁ। ତା’ ପରେ ମନ୍ତ୍ର ଜପ କରି ଫଳ, ଫୁଲ, ମହୁ ଆଦି ପ୍ରୟୋଗ କରନ୍ତୁ। ମାଙ୍କୁ ଆଜିର ଦିନରେ ହଳଦିଆ ରଙ୍ଗରରେ ଶୃଙ୍ଗାର କରନ୍ତୁ। ମା’ଙ୍କ ପୂଜା ସନ୍ଧ୍ଯାବେଳେ ଗାଈ ଗୋଠରୁ ଫେରିବା ବେଳେ କରନ୍ତୁ। ଏହି ସମୟରେ ବିଧି ପୂର୍ବକ ପୂଜା କରିବା ଦ୍ବାରା ସକାରାତ୍ମକ ଉର୍ଜା ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ହେବା ସହିତ ଶତ୍ରୁ ନାଶ ହୋଇଥାନ୍ତି ଏବଂ ରୋଗରୁ ମୁକ୍ତି ମିଳିଥାଏ। ବରଷା ଋତୁ ଅପସରି ଯାଇଛିା କିନ୍ତୁ ତାର ପ୍ରକୋପ ଯାଇ ନାହିଁ କି ଧଳା ଧଳା ଫେଣ ଫେଣ ବାଦଲ ଆକାଶରେ ଘୁରି ବୁଲୁଛିା ସକାଳ ଖରାବେଳ ରାତିରେ ଅସରାଏ ବର୍ଷା ହୋଇ ଛାଡି ଯାଉଛିା ପର୍ବତ ବୁକୁରେ ଖଣ୍ଡ ଖଣ୍ଡିଆ ମେଘ ଆଶ୍ରା ନେଇଛିା ଦୂର ଦିଗବଳୟ କୋଳେ ଇନ୍ଦ୍ରଧନୁର ସାତ ରଙ୍ଗ କି ଶୋଭା ସୁଷମା ବଢାଉଛି ଅନୁଭବୀ ହିଁ ଉପଭୋଗ କରି ପାରୁଛିା ଶାରଦୀୟ ନବରାତ୍ରୀ ପୂଜାରେ ଜଗତ ଜନନୀ ଦୁର୍ଗତୀ ନାଶିନୀ ମହୀ ପୂଷ୍ଠକୁ ଓହ୍ଲାଇ ଆସିଛନ୍ତିା ଦଶହରା, ସୋମନାଥ ବ୍ରତ ଓ ରାଜରାସ୍ତା,ସାହି ଗଳିରେ ଦୁର୍ଗାଙ୍କ ମେଢ ଓ ଆଖି ଝଲେସେଇ ରଙ୍ଗ ବେରଙ୍ଗର ଆଲୋକ ସଜ୍ଜା ମହୋତ୍ସବକୁ ଦ୍ୱିଗୁଣିତ କରି ଦେଉଛିା ଦୂର ଦୂରାନ୍ତରୁ ଲେଉଟି ଆସନ୍ତି ଘର ପରିଜନା ଆସିବା ବେଳେ ରାସ୍ତାର ଦୁଇ ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱରେ, ନଈ ପଠାରେ କାଶତଣ୍ଡୀ ଫୁଲର ମନଲୋଭା ଦୂଶ୍ଯ ସବୁଜିମା ଧରିତ୍ରୀର ଅପାଶୋରା ରୂପ ସମ୍ଭାର ଦେଖି ଆତ୍ମବିଭୋର ହୋଇ ଉଠେ

Story of Ma Katyayani*
Once, the sage Katyayan undertook a severe penance to get Ma Parvati as his daughter. Owing to his sincere devotion and ardent penance, Ma Durga blessed him and was born as his daughter. Be4ing the daughter of sage Katyayan, Ma Durga got the name Katyayani. Once she grew up, she took arms in her ten hands and started touring the tree worlds to annihilate the demons who were creating atrocities and troubling people. This is one of the most fearful form that Ma Durga assumed to annihilate the demons. However, she is very benign to her devotees and protects them with the highest care and compassion.
